1. Who we are
nmedea ("we", "us", "the app") is a live, public, global group chat application. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy below.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use nmedea. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Public nature of the chat
nmedea is a public chat room. Any message, image, video, or audio clip you post is visible to other users of the app and is not private. Do not share anything you would not want seen publicly.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to post or transmit content that:
- is illegal, sexually exploitative of minors, or violates any applicable law;
- is hateful, harassing, or incites violence against a person or group;
- is spam, unsolicited advertising, or a scam;
- infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights;
- impersonates another person or entity.
Text and image content you submit is automatically screened by an AI moderation system before being shown to other users. Flagged content may be blocked, blurred behind a content warning, or removed. Our team may also review and remove content or accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant us a limited license to store, transmit, and display that content within the app for the purpose of operating the service.
6. Blocking and reporting
You can block another user at any time to stop seeing their messages and prevent them from contacting you. You can also report any message or user for review. Blocking is immediate and under your control; it does not require our involvement.
7. Copyright (DMCA)
If you believe content on nmedea infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to the contact address below including: (1) a description of the copyrighted work, (2) the location of the infringing content in the app, (3) your contact information, and (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We will remove content that is the subject of a valid notice and may terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
8. Account deletion & moderation
Accounts or content that violate these Terms may be removed without prior notice. A message removed for violating these Terms is replaced with a visible notice rather than silently deleted.
9. No warranty
nmedea is provided "as is". We do not guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Privacy Policy
1. Information we collect
- Account information: the username and password you register with.
- Content you post: messages, images, videos, and audio you send in the chat.
- Usage information: presence (online/offline), typing status, and profile view counts, used only to power in-app features (e.g. showing who's online).
- Device/technical information: standard technical data such as browser type and connection quality, used to serve you an appropriately sized version of media.
2. How we use your information
We use the information above only to operate and improve the app: authenticating your account, displaying your messages and profile to other users, showing presence/online status, and automatically screening content for policy violations.
3. AI content moderation
Text and images you submit are sent to a third-party AI provider (Groq) solely to check for policy violations (e.g. spam, hate content, adult content). This check happens automatically and the content is not used by us or the provider to train AI models.
4. Third-party services
We use the following third-party infrastructure providers to operate the app: Firebase (Google) for authentication and real-time data storage, Cloudflare for hosting and content moderation processing, and Groq for AI content screening. Each provider processes data only as needed to provide their respective service to us.
5. Data retention
Messages and media remain in the app until deleted by you, by a moderator, or as part of routine data management. Account information is retained until you request account deletion.
6. Your rights over your data
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access a copy of the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your account and associated data; and object to or restrict certain processing. You may delete your own messages at any time from within the app. To exercise any other right, contact us using the information below — we will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.
7. Children's privacy
nmedea is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
