1. Why these guidelines exist

nmedea puts people from every country in one live room. That only works if everyone feels safe and respected. These guidelines describe what is welcome, what is not, and how we enforce the rules. They apply to everything you share: messages, replies, usernames, profile photos, bios, links, images, videos, GIFs, audio and files. They sit alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

The short version: be kind, be real, be safe, and remember it’s public.

2. Be respectful

Disagreement, debate and blunt opinions are normal in a live global chat. Attacking people is not.

• No hate speech: do not demean, dehumanise or target people or groups because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar traits.
• No harassment or bullying: do not insult repeatedly, pile on, mock, intimidate, or keep contacting someone who wants you to stop.
• No threats or incitement: never threaten, encourage or celebrate violence or harm against anyone.
• Respect cultural differences. What is normal in one country may be offensive in another — assume good faith and use translation to understand before you react.

3. Keep it real

• Do not impersonate another person, brand, moderator or official account, and do not misrepresent who you are.
• Do not spread deliberate misinformation, fake emergencies or fabricated claims that could cause harm.
• Do not use fake or misleading usernames, photos or bios. Usernames and profile details must follow these same guidelines.

4. Protect children

Content that sexualises, exploits, endangers or grooms anyone under 18 is never allowed, in any form, including images, video, text, drawings and links. It is removed immediately, the account is permanently removed, and it may be reported to the authorities. Do not ask for or share personal details of minors. If you see something that involves a child in danger, report it right away and contact your local emergency services or child-protection hotline.

Child Safety Standards (CSAE). nmedea has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sexualised or nude images of minors, sexual or romantic approaches to minors, requests for images, secret or private meetings, and AI-generated or drawn depictions of any of these. We remove it immediately when we find it or are told about it, permanently terminate the account, preserve evidence, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the relevant law-enforcement authority as the law requires. You can report any message, profile or user from inside the app at any time; for child-safety concerns you can also contact our child safety contact through Profile menu → Report a problem, or the details on our Google Play listing and at nmedea.com.

You must be 16 or older to use nmedea. If you are younger, please do not create an account.

5. Adult and sensitive content

• nmedea is a general-purpose public room, not an adult platform. Do not post pornography or sexually explicit material.
• Explicit or graphic content that our systems detect is placed behind a content warning and requires confirming you are 18 or older to view. It is never shown by default.
• Non-consensual intimate imagery, sexual coercion and sexual content involving minors are strictly prohibited and are removed without a warning.
• Graphic violence, gore and shocking imagery are not allowed unless clearly newsworthy or educational, and even then must be behind a warning.
• Content that is unsettling but not graphic (for example skeletons, skulls, anatomy or horror imagery) and traditional cultural practices that may look intense to outsiders are allowed with a “viewer discretion is advised” label. Anything showing blood, open wounds or gore is not allowed.

6. Violence, dangerous and illegal activity

• No terrorism, violent extremism, or praise of violent groups or attacks.
• No content that helps people hurt themselves or others, including instructions for weapons, explosives or dangerous “challenges”.
• No selling or promoting illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, counterfeit items, hacked accounts, or illegal services.
• No fraud, scams, phishing, money-flipping, fake investment or giveaway schemes.
• Dangerous sports (such as boxing, MMA, motor sports or extreme sports) may be shared only in an organised or professional setting, performed by trained people, with no blood or injury. They carry a “Professionals only” caution label because they must not be attempted by children or untrained people. Amateur stunts, street fights and dangerous “challenges” that others could copy are not allowed.
• AI-generated images and videos are allowed but are labelled “AI generated”. Do not use AI media to deceive people, impersonate real people or fake news.

7. Self-harm and mental health

If you are struggling, you deserve support. Do not post content that encourages, glorifies or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. If you or someone you know may be in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency number or a local crisis line right away. If you see someone in the chat who may be at risk, report the message so our team can act.

8. No spam or advertising

nmedea is not a marketplace. Unsolicited promotion, repeated links, “follow me” or “join my group” spam, referral or investment pitches, and mass or repetitive posting are not allowed and are automatically filtered. Do not use bots or scripts to post, connect or inflate activity.

9. Privacy and personal information

• Do not share other people’s private information (real names, addresses, phone numbers, IDs, financial details, private photos or messages) without their consent (“doxxing”).
• Do not post or ask for passwords or one-time codes. nmedea staff will never ask for your password.
• Think before you share your own details. The chat is public and anyone can see it.

10. Respect intellectual property

Only post content you own or have permission to share. Do not repost copyrighted material in ways that infringe rights. Rights holders can send a takedown notice as described in our Terms of Use.

11. Platform integrity

• Do not try to bypass moderation, content warnings, blocks, bans or age restrictions.
• Do not create extra accounts to evade a ban or restriction, and do not mask your location to avoid protections.
• Do not attempt to hack, scrape, overload or disrupt nmedea or other users’ accounts.
• Do not post malicious links or files.

12. Profiles, usernames and links

Your username, profile photo, bio and website link are visible to everyone and must follow these guidelines. Links must not lead to illegal, harmful, deceptive or explicit content. Before anyone opens a profile link, the app warns them they are leaving nmedea.

13. How enforcement works

Messages, images, videos and GIFs are automatically screened by an AI system before other users see them. Depending on severity, flagged content is blocked outright (for example advertising or hate content) or blurred behind a content warning (adult or graphic content). Our moderation team also reviews reports and can remove content directly; a removed message is replaced with a small notice so the conversation still makes sense. Actions we may take include: hiding or removing content, restricting features, temporarily suspending an account, and permanently removing an account. Severe violations (such as child exploitation, credible threats or terrorism) lead to immediate permanent removal and may be reported to law enforcement. We consider context and intent, and we may act without prior notice when needed to protect people. When content is blocked, you see the reason. Our team can also review reports, view the reported content and warn, suspend or terminate accounts.

14. Reporting and blocking

• Report any message or user directly in the app. Reports are reviewed, and repeated or severe violations can result in account removal. Please only report genuine violations.
• Block anyone at any time to stop seeing their messages. Blocking is instant and needs no approval from us.
• Delete your own messages with “Delete for me” or “Delete for everyone”.
• Report a problem anytime from the Profile menu.

15. Appeals

If you believe we made a mistake removing content or restricting your account, contact us using the details on our Google Play listing or at nmedea.com, include your username and what happened, and we will review it. Decisions on the most serious violations are final.

16. Stay safe

• Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you met in the chat.
• Do not share your password, codes, address or financial details.
• Be cautious with links and files from strangers.
• Do not meet up with people from the chat without taking sensible safety precautions.
• If you feel unsafe, block, report, and step away.

Thank you for helping keep nmedea a welcoming place for the whole world.

17. Using chat features responsibly

• View once does not make anything allowed. The same rules apply, anyone can screenshot what they see, and you can still be reported and removed for what you send.
• Speakers is for reaching people who read a language, for greetings, questions and help. Do not use it to exclude, single out, target or harass people, or to say things you would not say to everyone.
• Handwriting, drawings and photos follow the same rules as all other content: no nudity, hate, harassment, threats or personal information.
• Share a place: share public places and your own city or landmarks only. Never post someone else’s home address, workplace or live location.
• Links: do not send phishing, scam, malicious or illegal links. A link card is only a preview taken from the other site, so check the address before you tap, and take care when you see the warning that you are leaving nmedea.
• Recovery email: add one so you can get back into your account. Never share your password or a reset code with anyone — nmedea will never ask for them.
• Polls, debates and articles must stay respectful and honest. No spam, no fake results and no pressure to vote.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and nmedea (“we”, “us”). They govern your use of the nmedea website and mobile app (the “Service”). By creating an account, ticking the agreement box, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Who may use nmedea

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use nmedea. By registering you confirm that you are.
• Some content is age-restricted and can only be viewed after you confirm you are 18 or older.
• You must be legally able to enter into this agreement, and you must not be barred from using the Service under any applicable law or by a previous removal from nmedea.
• If you use nmedea on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

3. Your account

• To use nmedea you must create an account. You register with a username, a password and your date of birth (16+ only). An email address is optional: you can add a recovery email (while signing up or later in Settings) to reset a forgotten password. No phone number is required.
• Choose a username that is not offensive, misleading or impersonating. We may refuse, change or remove usernames that break these Terms.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.
• If you added a recovery email, you can reset a forgotten password from the Log In screen with a one-time code sent to it, so keep it up to date. If you did not add one, we may be unable to recover a lost password. We will never ask you for your password or a reset code.
• One person, one account. Do not create accounts to evade a ban, restriction or block, or to manipulate the Service.

4. The public nature of nmedea

nmedea is a public, global chat room. Messages, replies, images, videos, GIFs, audio, files, your username, profile photo, bio, link and country flag are visible to other users and are not private. The only exception is a GIF you add to the shared library and mark “Only me”, which is excluded from other people’s search. Other users can copy, screenshot or share what you post and we cannot control that. Do not post anything you want to keep private.

5. Your content and our licence

You keep ownership of the content you post (“Your Content”). By posting it you grant nmedea a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, resize or translate), transmit and display Your Content within the Service, solely to operate, secure, moderate and improve nmedea. This licence continues for content that other users have already interacted with (for example replies) where it is technically necessary to keep the conversation intact, and ends when the content is deleted, subject to backup and cache delay.

You confirm that you own Your Content or have all rights needed to post it, that it does not infringe anyone’s rights, and that it complies with these Terms and the law.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use nmedea to post, send, upload or do any of the following:

• anything illegal, or that promotes, facilitates or encourages illegal activity;
• any sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises, exploits, endangers or grooms a minor (zero tolerance — reported to authorities where required);
• hate speech, harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, incitement to violence, or content that targets people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or similar characteristics;
• graphic violence, gore, self-harm promotion, terrorism or violent extremism;
• non-consensual intimate imagery, or explicit sexual content that bypasses our content-warning system;
• spam, unsolicited advertising, scams, phishing, pyramid schemes, fake giveaways, or repeated promotional links;
• impersonation, false identity claims, or deliberate misinformation that could cause harm, including AI-generated or edited media made to deceive people into believing it is real (deepfakes);
• other people’s private information (doxxing) or content that violates someone’s privacy or intellectual property;
• viruses, malicious links or code, or attempts to hack, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer or disrupt the Service or other users’ accounts;
• attempts to bypass moderation, blocks, bans, age restrictions or regional protections (including by using multiple accounts or masking your location);
• automated accounts, bots, or artificially inflating views, connections or activity.

The Community Guidelines explain these rules in more detail and form part of these Terms.

7. Moderation and enforcement

To keep nmedea safe we use automated systems, including AI, to screen text, images, videos and GIFs before other users see them, and our team reviews reports and can act on content directly. Depending on severity we may block content, hide it behind a content warning, replace it with a removal notice, remove it, restrict features, suspend or permanently remove accounts, and report illegal activity to the authorities. We may act without prior notice where necessary to protect people or the Service. Automated systems can make mistakes; if you think we got something wrong, contact us and we will review it.

Content labels. Allowed content may carry an automated label so people can make informed choices: “AI generated” for content that appears to be created by AI; “Professionals only” (with a caution level) for dangerous activities, such as boxing or extreme sports, that must not be attempted by untrained people; and “viewer discretion is advised” for sensitive or graphic cultural imagery. Content showing blood, injury or gore is not allowed. Labels are estimates made by automated systems and may occasionally be missing or wrong. If you post AI-generated media you should say so, and you must not present it as real to mislead people. When something is blocked we show the sender the reason.

Reviews, suspensions and appeals. Our team reviews reports and may dismiss them, warn you, delete content, suspend an account for a set time, or terminate it permanently. You can contact us to appeal a decision.

8. Reporting, blocking and deleting

• Report any message or user directly from the app. Reports go straight to our team, who can view the reported content (including a saved copy if it is later deleted) and decide what action to take. Repeated or severe violations may lead to suspension or account removal. Do not submit false or abusive reports.
• Block any user at any time to stop seeing their messages. Blocking is immediate and under your control.
• Delete your own messages: “Delete for me” removes it from your view only; “Delete for everyone” removes it for all users.

9. Shared GIF library

You may add your own GIFs to the shared library and choose whether they are visible to everyone or only to you. All GIFs are screened like any other content. You may permanently remove a GIF you contributed at any time; removal is final and the GIF cannot be recovered or used by anyone afterwards.

10. Camera, microphone and media

If you use the in-app camera or record audio, we ask for the relevant device permission first. We access the camera or microphone only while you are using that feature, only to capture what you choose to send, and the result is treated like any other content you post. Media saved or shared from nmedea may carry an nmedea mark. You may only save or reshare other people’s content in ways permitted by law and by the rights holder.

11. Links and sponsored content

Profiles and messages may contain links to external sites. We warn you before you leave nmedea, but we do not control or endorse external sites and are not responsible for them. nmedea may display sponsored placements or promotions; these are clearly separate from user messages and we are not responsible for third-party offers you choose to follow. A link you send may show a preview card (title, description and picture) taken from the linked site by third-party services; we do not control that content.

12. Regional and safety restrictions

To protect the community we may limit or block access where our systems detect behaviour that looks like abuse, ban evasion or masking of location. nmedea may not be available in every country and we may change or restrict availability where required by law or for safety.

13. Suspension, termination and account deletion

You may stop using nmedea at any time and can delete your account in Profile menu → Account Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or delete your account if you break these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us or others, or if we are required to by law. Deleting your account removes your account, profile, presence, connection and username-reservation data. Messages you already posted to the public chat may remain in the shared history unless you delete them first (see Privacy Policy, Section 8). Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including content licence for retained content, disclaimers, liability limits and dispute terms) will continue to apply.

14. Copyright (DMCA) and takedown

We respect intellectual property. If you believe content on nmedea infringes your copyright, send a notice through the contact route in Section 22 that includes: (1) a description of the copyrighted work; (2) where the content appears in the app; (3) your contact details; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; and (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner. We remove content that is the subject of a valid notice and may terminate accounts of repeat infringers. Counter-notices may be submitted through the same route.

15. Our rights

The nmedea name, logo, app design, software and all content we create are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in line with these Terms. You may not copy, sell, modify, decompile or exploit any part of the Service except as the law allows.

16. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, you agree we may use them without obligation or payment to you.

17. Disclaimers

nmedea is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free or permanently available, that translations or automated moderation will always be accurate, or that content posted by users is accurate, safe or lawful. Users are solely responsible for their own content and interactions. Take care when meeting or sharing information with people you meet online, and never rely on content in the chat for medical, legal, financial or emergency advice.

18. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, nmedea and its owners, staff and providers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill or reputation, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service or from content or conduct of other users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory consumer rights where they apply.

19. Indemnity, governing law and changes

Indemnity. You agree to be responsible for claims and losses arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws that apply to the operator of nmedea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled by the competent courts, except that you keep any mandatory consumer rights and the right to bring a claim in your country of residence where the law gives you that right.

Changes. We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the date above and, where appropriate, in-app notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using nmedea and delete your account.

General. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.

20. Chat features and plugins

• View once. A “View once” message is designed to be opened one time by each person and then hidden for them. It is a convenience, not a guarantee: other people can still screenshot, record or copy what they see, and we may keep a copy of a reported message so it can be reviewed. Do not rely on it for anything you could not safely share.
• Speakers. This plugin shows your messages only to people who read the languages you choose. Use it to help people, ask questions or start conversations, never to exclude, target or harass anyone, and never as a way to treat people differently because of who they are.
• Handwriting and drawings. The style you choose and any picture you draw or attach are your content and follow the same rules as every other message.
• Share a place. Only share places you are happy to make public, and never another person’s home address or private location. Map search is provided by OpenStreetMap.
• Plugins in general. Plugins and tools (such as polls, debates, articles, reminders and converters) may be added, changed or removed at any time and are provided as they are.

21. Official names

The name “nmedeaofficial” belongs to nmedea. Usernames that end in “official” do not show the official mark unless the nmedea team has verified them, and we may remove a mark, or ask you to change a name, if it is misleading or used to impersonate a person, brand or organisation.

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

nmedea (“nmedea”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a live, public, global group-chat service available on the web at nmedea.com and as a mobile app. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, how long we keep it, how we protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to everything you do on nmedea.

By creating an account or using nmedea you confirm that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the service. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.

2. The short version

3. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service. The table below summarises it; details follow.

3.1 Information you give us

• Account credentials. Your chosen username and password, which you must provide to create and use an account. We do not ask for your real name, phone number or address. An email address is optional (see “Recovery email” below).
• Date of birth. You enter it when you register so we can confirm you are at least 16. It is used for that check only and is not kept on your profile or shown to anyone.
• Recovery email (optional). You can add an email address while signing up or later in Profile menu → Account Settings. We store it privately against your account and use it only to send a one-time reset code (valid for 10 minutes) when you choose “Forgot password?” on the Log In screen. It is not visible to anyone else, is not used for marketing or advertising, and is deleted when you remove it or delete your account. Sending that email is done by an email-delivery provider acting for us.
• Official-account verification (optional). If your username ends with “official”, you can submit a photo of yourself so the nmedea team can check the account is genuine before it gets the official mark. We use the photo only for that review and keep it with the review record.
• Profile information. A profile photo, a short bio and a website link, if you choose to add them. Anything you add is visible to other users.
• Content you post. Text messages, replies in threads, images, videos, GIFs, voice or audio recordings, documents, and photos you take with the in-app camera, together with the time they were posted and the username they were posted under.
• Reports and feedback. If you report a message or a user, or report a problem with the app, we receive the reason and any details you write, along with your account identifier and the time.
• Contact. If you contact us, we keep the correspondence so we can respond and improve the service.

3.2 Information collected automatically

• Approximate location. Using your internet connection we estimate your country (not your precise location). We use it to display your country flag next to your name, to suggest a first language, and as one signal to detect abuse. We do not access your device’s GPS.
• Region consistency check. To protect the community from abuse and ban evasion, our systems compare your estimated country with your device’s time-zone setting. This is a rough safeguard, not tracking, and we do not build a location history from it.
• Presence and activity. Whether you are online, whether you are currently typing, your connections to other users, and how many times a profile has been viewed.
• Technical information. Browser or app type, device type, screen size, approximate connection quality, language settings and diagnostic information such as error events. We use this to serve suitably sized media, fix problems and secure the service.
• Links, places and fonts. When you type or send a web link, the address is sent to link-preview services so we can show its title and picture; nmedea’s own links and some video sites are handled directly. If you use “Share a place”, the words you search are sent to the OpenStreetMap search service, and only the place you pick is put in your message. The Handwriting plugin loads fonts from Google Fonts. These services receive the technical information any website receives, such as your IP address.
• Advertising measurement. When you register or log in, an anonymous conversion event may be sent to our advertising measurement provider so we can understand whether our own promotion of nmedea works. This event does not include your messages, password or profile content.

3.3 Information stored on your device

nmedea stores small pieces of data on your device (using local storage and a service worker) to work properly: your language and appearance settings, the list of people you have blocked, reports you have already made from your device, your last-used username, your sign-in session, your Dashboard figures (time online, messages sent and estimated data use, which are counted only on your device), your chosen Handwriting style, which “View once” messages you have already opened on this device, and cached files that make the app load faster. You can clear this at any time in your browser or device settings; doing so may sign you out and reset your preferences.

3.4 Device permissions

We ask for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can revoke it at any time in your device or browser settings:

• Camera — only to take a photo or video you choose to send, and only while the camera view is open.
• Microphone — only to record a voice or audio message you choose to send, and only while you are recording.
• Photos, media and files — only for the items you pick to upload or save.

We do not record audio or video in the background and we do not read your contacts, SMS, call log or precise location.

3.5 Automated moderation, content labels and reports

• AI screening. Before other people see it, the text, images, video frames, GIFs and the speech in voice or video sound tracks you submit are analysed automatically to detect content that breaks our rules (for example nudity, violence, hate, advertising, or personal information such as phone numbers, ID or card numbers and passwords). Speech is converted to text for this check. This analysis is done by trusted service providers on our behalf, only to moderate content, and your content is not used to build advertising profiles.
• Content labels. The same analysis may add a label to content that is allowed: “AI generated” (content that appears to be made by AI), “Professionals only” (dangerous activities such as boxing or extreme sports that should only be done by trained people), and “viewer discretion is advised” (for example sensitive imagery or graphic cultural practices). Labels are stored with the content and are visible to other users. They are automated estimates and can be wrong.
• Reports. When you report a message or a user, we receive your reason and any details you add, your account identifier, the time, and a saved copy of the reported message (its text and attachments) so our team can review it even if the sender deletes it afterwards. Only authorised moderators can see reports. The person you report is not told who reported them.
• Enforcement records. If we warn, suspend or terminate an account we keep a record of the action, its reason and its duration so we can apply our rules consistently, handle appeals and prevent repeat abuse.
• Notifications. The app shows in-app notifications about replies, new connections, and official messages from nmedea (for example the result of a report or a moderation decision). These are generated from your activity and shown only to you.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• create and secure your account and sign you in;
• operate the chat: deliver, display, translate, store and remove messages and media;
• show your profile, flag, online status and connections to other users;
• screen content automatically with AI, add content labels (such as “AI generated”, “Professionals only” and viewer-discretion warnings), and review reports so we can enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, including warning, suspending or removing accounts;
• prevent spam, fraud, impersonation, ban evasion and other abuse, and protect the safety of users;
• provide the translation feature in the language you select;
• measure, maintain and improve performance, reliability and features, and fix bugs;
• show sponsored placements that appear to everyone in the app (they are not targeted using your messages);
• respond to your requests and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not use your private account details for marketing.

5. Legal bases (for people in the EEA, UK and similar regions)

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: contract (to provide the service you signed up for); legitimate interests (keeping nmedea safe, preventing abuse, improving the service — balanced against your rights); consent (for device permissions such as camera and microphone, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligation (where the law requires us to keep or disclose information).

6. Who can see your information

6.1 Other users

nmedea is a public chat. Your username, profile photo, bio, website link, country flag, online status, connections and everything you post can be seen by other users, including people who are not logged in to your account. Other users may screenshot, save or share what you post. Please do not post anything you would not want to be public, and never share passwords, financial details or sensitive personal information in the chat.

6.2 Service providers

We use trusted third-party providers who process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service to us. They cover: secure cloud hosting and data storage; account authentication; file and media storage and delivery; automated content moderation (text, images, video and GIFs you submit may be analysed automatically to detect policy violations, and are not used to train AI models for advertising); translation (text may be sent to a translation service to produce the language you choose); email delivery (to send a one-time reset code to your recovery email if you ask for one); link-preview and place-search services; font delivery; and performance and advertising-measurement tools. These providers are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.

6.3 Legal, safety and business reasons

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request, to protect the rights, safety or property of users, the public or nmedea, to investigate or prevent illegal activity or serious violations of our rules, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets (in which case we will require the recipient to honour this policy).

6.4 What we never do

We do not sell personal information, we do not rent your data to advertisers, we do not use your recovery email for marketing, and we do not read your messages for advertising purposes.

7. International transfers

nmedea is a global service. Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including countries whose data-protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) for such transfers.

8. How long we keep information

• Account information is kept while your account is active and is deleted when you delete your account.
• Your recovery email is kept until you remove it in Settings or delete your account. One-time reset codes expire after 10 minutes and are deleted once used.
• Presence, typing, connection and username-reservation data tied to your account is removed when you delete your account.
• Chat messages and media stay in the public chat history until they are deleted by you, by a moderator, or through routine data management. Before deleting your account you can remove your own messages using “Delete for everyone”. Messages that other people have already seen, replied to or saved may continue to exist elsewhere beyond our control.
• Shared GIFs you contributed stay in the library until you remove them.
• Reports, saved copies of reported messages and enforcement records (warnings, suspensions, terminations) are kept for as long as needed to protect users, enforce our rules, handle appeals, prevent repeat abuse and meet legal obligations. A saved copy of reported content may remain available to moderators even after the sender deletes the original.
• Backups and logs may retain information for a short additional period before being overwritten.

If you would like remaining content removed after you delete your account, contact us (see Section 15) and we will review your request.

9. Your choices and controls

• Edit your profile — change your photo, bio and link at any time from your profile.
• Recovery email — Profile menu → Account Settings → Recovery email: add, change or remove it at any time. If you forget your password, tap Forgot password? on the Log In screen.
• Change your username or password — Profile menu → Account Settings.
• Delete a message — “Delete for me” hides it from your own view only; “Delete for everyone” removes it for all users.
• Block or report — block any user to stop seeing their messages, and report messages or users for review. If you think a moderation decision or an automated label about your content is wrong, contact us (Section 15) and we will review it.
• Choose your language — set the language you want content translated into.
• Permissions — turn camera, microphone or media access on or off in your device or browser settings.
• Delete your account — Profile menu → Account Settings → Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm with your password. Deletion is permanent.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, POPIA and similar laws), you may have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; delete your information; restrict or object to certain processing; receive a portable copy of information you provided; withdraw consent you previously gave; and complain to your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Most of these rights can be exercised directly in the app (Section 9). For anything else, contact us (Section 15). We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

California and other US states: in the past 12 months we have collected the categories of information described in Section 3 for the business purposes in Section 4. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined by California law.

11. Children

nmedea is not intended for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 16. You must confirm your age when you register. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will remove it and delete the associated information. If you believe a child under 16 is using nmedea, please contact us so we can act. Content that sexualises or exploits minors is prohibited, is removed immediately, and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), protected password storage, access controls, and automated and human monitoring for abuse. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please choose a strong, unique password, do not share it, and log out on shared devices. Because we do not collect an email address or phone number, we may be unable to recover a lost password, so please keep your credentials safe.

13. Links to other sites

Profiles and messages may contain links to third-party websites. Before opening a profile link the app warns you that you are leaving nmedea. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of other sites.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use nmedea after a change means you accept the updated policy.

15. Contact us

For privacy questions, data requests, copyright notices, or safety concerns, use Profile menu → Report a problem in the app, or the contact details shown on our Google Play store listing and at nmedea.com. Please include your username so we can locate your account. We aim to reply within a reasonable time. Account and data deletion: you can delete your account yourself in the app (Profile menu → Account Settings → Delete Account). If you can no longer sign in, contact us using the details above with your username and we will help you delete your account and associated data.
